Associate attorney Carleen Wood advises boards of directors in their capacity as the governing body of the non-profit mutual benefit corporations for which they serve. In this capacity, Ms. Wood prepares legal opinions for associations, reviews vendor contracts, and amends/restates governing documents. Her practice area includes addressing issues involving real property rights, including easements and the sale of common area parcels. Ms. Wood also assists in defending community associations presented with owner claims and disputes.
In addition to representing community associations, Ms. Wood assists with the estate planning and probate law practice.
Ms. Wood is actively involved with the California North Chapter of the Community Association Institute and served as the Chapter's liaison to CAI-CLAC. She also regularly serves as a volunteer judge for the Gordon D. Schaber mock trial competition.
Ms. Wood received her Juris Doctor in 2004 from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law graduating with distinction and earning academic honors in Trial Advocacy and Pre-Trial Civil Litigation. While in law school, Ms. Wood served as a Governing Board Member at Community Legal Services, where she was responsible for managing cases in a variety of practice areas including family law and bankruptcy. She also worked as a certified law student for Sacramento County Counsel in the Division of Revenue Recovery.
Ms. Wood graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Politics from Saint Mary's College of California. She is admitted to the California State Bar.
